DiGiCo SD Series Digital Console SDI and HDI Embedder (8 Channel) / De-Embedder (8 Channel) Card
SDI (serial digital interface) is a group of digital video interfaces initially standardised by SMPTE from 1989. They allow digital video with 16 channels of embedded audio to be sent over BNC coaxial cable.
The HD-SDI card allows audio to be de-embedded and then re-embedded any 8 of the 16 channels of AES3 audio contained within an SDI video stream. The card contains inbuilt sample rate conversion so that it can be used at both 48kHz and 96kHz. The card is compatible with SMPTE 272M-A, C (SD) and SMPTE 299M (3G, HD) and is transparent for Dolby E/D data. On the front panel are 5 BNC connections: In, Thru (re-clocked SDI in), two identical outputs from the embedded, and a 48kHz Word Clock from the SDI stream.
