Description

Q-SYS JSD-60DX 8-Channel Digital Cinema Audio Processor

The USL JSD-60 cinema sound processor is designed for digital cinema applications, delivering low noise and low distortion 96 kHz processing for superb audio performance.

In addition to six standard formats, user-configurable format buttons support a variety of existing and future formats. These buttons can also duplicate an existing format at a different fader level, allowing for easy volume adjustments between content types. The front panel display shows the current fader level, format name (user-configurable), and audio level on each output. A built-in bypass audio circuitry ensures the presentation continues even in the event of a system failure.

The USL JSD-60 is automation-friendly, featuring a standard DB25 parallel automation interface, an RS-232 (EIA232) interface, and Ethernet. The Ethernet interface supports five simultaneous TCP connections, enabling control by a digital cinema server and other equipment, while also allowing monitoring over another TCP connection.

The graphical user interface simplifies installation with sound pressure level measurement and automatic equalization. System monitoring, control, and firmware updates are accessible via a standard web browser.

The JSD-60 includes a precision 1/3 octave RTA that uses ANSI S1.11-1986-specified filters and performs sound pressure measurements with the C-weighted filter specified in ANSI S1.4-1983. The RTA and SPL meter can be used to manually or automatically equalize an auditorium. An auto-EQ feature utilizes user-defined microphone calibration files and standard or custom equalization curves to adjust the graphic equalizer on each channel.

Designed to be diagnostic-friendly, the JSD-60 logs the last 15,000 events (format changes, level changes, temperature variations, AES/EBU audio loss, etc.) to internal flash memory. Logs can be reviewed via the GUI or web interface. Current operational status, including selected format, fader level, and measured audio output levels, is accessible through the GUI, web interface, or SNMP. Optional modules support Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, and an optional crossover card enables bi-amp operation for three screen channels and provides two LFE outputs.

The USL JSD-60 offers various processing and output configurations, with or without Dolby Digital and DTS decoding. Output options include standard 8-channel analog, 8-channel analog with bi-amp for three screen channels, AES/EBU, and BLU link. All units feature analog HI/VI-N outputs.
