The 5404DZM Digital Zone Manager offers processing and management for four (4) paging zones, which are assigned from an IED 5400 Announcement Control System. It provides line-level audio outputs to a paired four-channel amplifier unit, with Digital Signal Processing (DSP) on each output channel. The DSP features include input level controls, paging routing, automatic ducking of background music, equalization (high pass filters, low pass filters, up to 40 milliseconds of delay, and up to 7 parametric bands per amplifier channel). Additionally, IED's patented ambient analysis and control provide automatic level adjustment with two (2) sensor input channels per amplifier channel.

The 5404DZM includes backup amplifier switching, automatically routing speaker loads from a primary power amplifier to a backup unit in the event of a failure. Integrated supervision monitors each signal path and reports any failures to the 5400ACS. The mainframe requires 1U (1.75") of vertical space in a 19" equipment rack or cabinet, with front-to-back cooling for efficient heat dissipation.
