Gobos function like stencils for profile (ERS-style) lighting fixtures, allowing light to pass through specific areas to project a pattern. The projected image's color can be modified by adding a sheet of lighting gel or adjusting colors on most LED fixtures. Adding a donut (a color frame with a smaller hole) enhances the contrast and clarity of the projected image. Full-size Source Four fixtures offer EDLT and XDLT lens tube options for the highest quality gobo projection. The size of a projected gobo image is influenced by the beam angle of your fixture; a larger beam angle increases the gobo's size, but the image will appear dimmer since the light is distributed over a larger area.
